Vivaldi, Beethoven and Meyer

28 January 2018

Joshua Bell, Director and violinist of The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, received an ovation from an appreciative audience at Colston Hall at the end of their concert.  As part of the Bristol International Classical Season for 2017/18, the concert attracted a full house for the orchestra's performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D major and Meyer’s Overturn for Violin and Orchestra.  The concert was the last performance of an international tour by The Academy of St Martin in the Fields and was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. The orchestra is rated as one of the greatest chamber orchestras and Joshua Bell is considered one of the most celebrated violinists of his era.  Bell, playing a 1713 Stradivarius violin with a late 18th century French bow by Francois Tourte, totally enchanted the audience.  For more information on the Classical Season contact the Colston Hall by clicking:- www.colstonhall.org/whats-on/
